Today I went to pick up my chocolate and vanilla cake at the bakery.

This European-style bakery produces amazing detailed cakes, pies, cookies and cupcakes.

The photograph above shows the bakery shelves filled with chocolate iced Buche de Noel Logs.

Buche de Noel or Yule Logs are popular this time of year.  They are a traditional dessert served in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Canada, and Lebanon.

The cake roll is decorated to look like a forest log.  These Buche de Noel logs are topped with a mini plastic Santa and reindeers.  It is common to have meringue mushrooms scattered around the log.

Coconut Cream Holiday Pie

The cupcakes I looked at were decorated as a large green tree with a red star on top, a deer and tree, polar bear face, snowflake designs and a snowman face.  All very cute and clever.

It wouldn’t be Christmas without some cookies.

Each elaborately decorated cookie almost seems like a work of art.  The detailing and extra touches make each cookie special on its own.  The cookies are also generously sized.

The store has a decorated gingerbread house used in a display.

The also have sample faux wedding cakes on display so a bride can check out what the actual cake will look like.

Bonus points to this bakery is that their wait staff is helpful and friendly even during these busy holiday times.
