Wishing Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers a Wonderful July 4th Holiday!
The 4th of July marks America’s freedom and is always a great day to attend a parade, a fireworks display, or to have friends or family over for July 4th entertaining. Today’s blog will talk a little about a quick red, white and blue centerpiece, a local 4th of July Parade, and using farm fresh summer produce when entertaining.
I, also, have a new United States flag that will proudly fly in front of my house for the first time today.
Red, White and Blue July 4th Holiday Centerpiece
To make the below red, white and blue centerpiece, I first found a basket that would look nice. This is a country chicken wire egg collection basket.
I added some packing foam blocks which I wrapped in a red, white and blue napkin. This foam will bring the white bunnies up to eye level.
I rarely throw out packing foam blocks as I repurpose them for other uses such as this basket filler. They also work great for faux food projects.
The next step is to put the bunnies in the basket on top of the wrapped form insert. Then artistically place several red, white and blue napkins around the bunnies overhanging the napkins a bit from the basket’s edge.
The third step is to add to two clip-on red cardinals. to the basket’s handle.
Last step, is to add a bright red bow. This bow is on a stick, so I had to be careful with the placement so the stick part would not show. I also had to recut one end of the ribbon as it was folded in the wrong way.
Downhome Old Fashion Parade
I, unfortunately, was unable to attend today’s neighborhood July 4th Parade but I have in past years.
The kids deck out their bikes, scooters and wagons in red, white and blue streamers or pinwheels.
Then they get to parade down the street for about a block while everyone watches and claps.
July 4th Entertaining & Using Farmer’s Market Fresh Summer Produce
Since it is summer and the markets are full of delicious summer produce, I thought I would add this feature on ideas for using fresh fruit and vegetables at your July 4th gatherings.
Mixed Berry Cake Roll – July 4th Holiday Festive Dessert
This Mixed Berry Cake Roll is perfect for a red, white and blue meal theme. The cake roll is decorated with red raspberries, sliced red strawberries and blue berries.
This light and delicious dessert will taste just right after that BBQ.
Fresh Peach Cobbler Cake
The below photograph is of a fresh Peach Cobbler Cake which was only a few minutes ago taken from the oven. Using fresh peaches really pulls up the flavor a notch on this dessert cake.
It is, also, a great way to use up those baskets of farm stand fresh peaches.
Serve the Peach Cobbler Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
This Fresh Peach Cobbler Cake is cooling on a wire rack.
Tasty Fresh Appetizers
How about making some strawberry, goat cheese, and balsamic glaze crostini and fresh corn fritters appetizers?
The flavor of the strawberry, goat cheese and balsamic glaze appetizer is both a tart and sweet sensation.
Again, using summer fresh strawberries and corn on the cob for the appetizers.
Fresh Corn Fritters on a serving plate.
Dipping sauce is made from mayo, siracha hot sauce, and honey.
