Getting Ready for Tropical Storm Isaias

This morning I am getting ready for tropical storm Isaias which should hit our area later on today.

Tropical storm Isaias is now in North Carolina with winds up to 85 mph.

Here are some of things I do to get ready for a storm.

If the power goes off, you will want your electrical devices to be fully charged such as your phone.

Be sure to run your dishwasher as you don’t want a washer full of dirty dishes.

It’s always good to have an extra bucket or two of water to flush the toilets.

You can also fill up the bathtub with water for this purpose.

I like to take a shower or bath in case there is no water later.

Be sure to secure your patio furniture.

I generally put the patio umbrella in the shed because it tends to flip the table over in heavy winds.

My patio furniture is pretty heavy and generally doesn’t move.  This time, however, I flipped the table and chairs over just to be sure.

I’ve also flipped my two lawn roosters on their sides.

For now, it is heavily raining and I am waiting for the worst to hit.

Good luck everyone.

Update on 8-5-2020 –  Everything around here was wet for a while.

Some of the roads became covered with water and I see at least a couple of people had to be rescued from their cars.  Remember “if there is water on the ground, turn around!”

I’m doing fine and Farmhouse Magic Blog will go on.

  1. Leo,
Thank you for reading our blog. Tips for being a novice blog writer would be to find a topic people want to read or learn about. Make sure your blog items are well written without spelling mistakes. Always, watch what you post under comments with URL addresses. Those will only direct your readers to another site. Also, helpful to find a way to make money with your blog to offset the costs. So far, I haven’t been successful in that regard. Enjoy your new blogging adventure!
