The above photograph shows a clear footed dish holding faux fudge with nuts.
Directions on How to Make Faux Fudge
The fudge is crafted from one package of white Crayola Clay Magic formed into small cubes.
When totally dry, the cubes were painted with two to three coats of espresso colored acrylic paint. Be sure to allow time for the paint to dry between coats.
The nuts are actually small chips of plastic which came off another project. The “nuts” were carefully glued on with white glue and placed into position using two toothpicks.
I know I’ve shared this faux fudge photograph before, but I love the way this batch turned out. The tangerines are also fakes.
Additional Historical Note
From a 1930’s Christmas historical perspective, the farm wife handmade her fudge along with cookies, pies and cakes.
After the annual church Christmas pageant, children might receive and orange as a treat. Or they might get an orange or nuts in their stockings.
