At Farmhouse Magic Blog, we want to give our Readers a second look at a festive Easter celebration with a pastel multi-layer cake for dessert.
Some of the below menu items could be made ahead of time. This approach saves time and effort on the actual Easter day.
I, also, always think certain foods taste better the second day. To me, potato salad, chili, and tomato sauce, all definitely taste better on the second day. By eating food previously made, the flavors have time to meld together.
Easter Menu
The following our second Easter menu.
- Easter Ham
- Sweet Potato Soufflé
- Corn Bread Casserole
- Potato Salad
- Deviled Eggs
- Pastel Layer Cake with Mascarpone Buttercream Icing and Easter Candy trim
Making the Cake
It’s easy to make the Pastel Layer Cake from a cake box mix and food coloring.
The homemade mascarpone buttercream frosting starts with a classic buttercream frosting recipe, but with the addition of mascarpone cheese, a touch of almond extract and heavy cream to smooth the icing out.
Traditional Easter candy decorates the top of the cake and gives the cake extra holiday color.
The cake is actually four layers high.
