Yesterday I was out shopping for a few things and noted several colorful spring flowers. I also purchased several bags of hardwood mulch, a blueberry bush, strawberry plants, and a new gardening hat because everyone needs protection from the bright sun’s rays.
So many people in our neighborhood have already cleaned up their gardens and added mulch; I’m feeling a little behind.
Spring Flowers in Bloom
As I roamed the lanes at the garden store, many spring flowers are in bloom. Below is a photograph of a colorful row of tulips.
This garden center has masses of pansies. I have repeatedly purchased pansies and other annuals for my large outdoor crocks. However, last year I’ve finally figured out why they never flourish. It’s because grubs have invaded the soil in the crocks and eat the plant’s roots.
Now before I buy any new plants for my crocks, I need to figure out a way to keep those grubs under control and out of my crocks.
Probably the first thing is to change out the soil. I’ll keep my Readers posted on this.
This garden table area is full of colorful pansies sold in 6-packs.
The last spring flowers I want to mention are Hyacinths. They are a spring-blooming perennial. What I always notice about hyacinths is their amazing sweet fragrance.
Hyacinths colors can be deep indigo, light pink, white, purple or bright magenta.
Natural Garden Sculptures
These natural garden sculptures are interesting to look at and would look nice in the garden.
It looks like this one is made from round beach or river pebbles, sea glass, and driftwood pieces shaped into a double-heart set on black metal stand base. This double heart is priced at $229.99.
Also, of interest are these matching mushrooms made with round pebbles and driftwood. The mushroom’s “stems” are slightly longer, so you can push them into the ground in your garden or crock.
These natural-looking mushrooms are priced at $16.99 each.
Ending Notes
So, it was great shopping trip and I got a lot of things I need for the garden. I also was able to enjoy the garden center’s masses of colorful spring flowers.
Wishing All my Readers a Happy Easter season!
