How to Kill an Hour

When there was a mix-up with a prescription order, I thought to myself how to kill an hour of waiting time.

Walk Around the Shopping Center

Since I was at a shopping center, i first decided to walk around the shops. I wanted to see if there any new stores. I noticed a few empty store fronts now looking for tenants.

I then noticed one family who put out a couple of stadium chairs in a small islet strip of ground near the front of the upscale grocery store. The man proceed to hook up his violin and loudly “play” the instrument. At this point, the shopping center’s security guard came by and asked the family to leave. I had seen this family do this before. I was told this is a method to get money from people going to the shopping center, the music was pre-recorded and the man isn’t even playing the violin.

I then walked by the beauty spa and checked out the sign of treatments on sale. To be honest with you, I didn’t know what even one of the treatments was.

Arts & Crafts Store

Since I so seldom have time to shop in the arts & crafts store, this was a good place to kill an hour of waiting time.

I pushed my cart through every aisle in the store. I checked out all the Easter sales. I was a little surprised at how expensive plastic eggs are anymore. I was glad I had picked up some new cheap ones in the secondhand store for 50 cents.

Interestingly, this store has boxes and boxes of “mystery” $10 boxes. Not sure if I could spend $10 on something which I had no clue to what in it. I guess they got tired of having a marked down sales area.

The last time I bought a grab bag, it contained very heavy earrings which I was unable to wear. I guess it is always “buyer beware”.

After shopping, I entered the check out line only to discover it was all done by cashier-less registers. The shopper in front of me, kept punching in numbers. I’m thinking how can I used by gift card with this one? So I got out of line, put my one item on the shelf near the front of the store, and left.

Gourmet Grocery Store

I then stopped in the gourmet grocery store for oranges. I briefly looked around but the store was getting some of the lunchtime crowd, so I cashed my oranges out and left.

Enjoying Coffee in How to Kill an Hour

My last stop was the local coffee shop. I still had a gift card for there, so I didn’t pay anything for my coffee. Thank You for the coffee shop gift card. The young gentleman who worked behind the counter was also so nice commenting on my usual hat.

A Sign I noted in the coffee Shop — Plant-Positive Ways to Save the Earth:

  • Use a reusable cup
  • Take what you need. Don’t take several napkins or straws and toss them out
  • Select a non dairy beverage
  • Use the APP to send eCards

Ending Notes on How to Kill an Hour

So after waiting an hour, I still needed to wait a couple of minutes. However, my prescription was covered by my insurance, so no charge. Yea, on that one.

I enjoyed my time in how to kill an hour and hope my Readers gets some ideas on how to kill an hour, too.
