Christmas Eve Celebration – 2019

Christmas Eve Celebration – 2019

The below photograph is of my silk poinsettia flower sled centerpiece.  When decorating, I generally place it on the dinning room table.

I put this sled together and think it makes my table look quite festive.

Two snow bunnies peek out around the runners of the sled and I have also added two dark blue candles in clear candle stick holders.

The centerpiece contains branches with fairy lights on the ends.  These are battery operated with the light control hidden under the greenery.

I randomly stuck some small red glass bulbs on wooden skewers among the poinsettias.

The gold glitter sled came with a red, white and green “blanket” which is sticking out at the back.

During the holidays it is, also, alright to mix expensive and cheap items together to get a new decorator table top look.

For example, the water glasses on my table were $35 a stem while the wine glasses were .25 cents from a second hand store.

Together they make a delightful table setting.

The soft light from the French doors gives the room a nice glow.

My dinning room table is set with a green brocade tablecloth and two table runners.

For special evenings, I like the contrast of using two table runners.

A blue stripped table runner makes up the first layer.  The second layer runner has a red and green poinsettia pattern on it.

The stripped runner picks up the blue color from the candles.

Again, the top poinsettia table runner was inexpensive but colorful and in keeping with the season.

Maroon colored polyester napkins were placed at each setting.

Although I don’t own holiday dishes, I think these everyday stoneware dishes worked out fine.

I also don’t have to store a second set of holiday dishes which would only be used once or twice a year.

The dishes actually have clusters of purple grapes on them.

The below photograph is of my dinning room and living room.

This wide view shows my new artificial Balsam Christmas tree which I purchased on sale over the summer months.

It was a great time to buy a new artificial Christmas tree since they were having a summer sale and it was marked way down.

It is a slim fit tree so it fits beautifully between my end table and china cabinet.

It is, also, pre-lite so I don’t have to string rows of lights.  It saves a bunch of time when decorating the home for the holidays.

My tree is decorated with a variety of bulbs.  It is topped with a silver retro topper and yards of white ribbon tied into large bows.

The first above photograph on the left, shows a small relish dish of celery, black olives, dried cranberries, raisins, and lightly salted almonds.

I used two mini silver souvenir spoons to serve the olives and almonds.

The photograph on the right, shows plated pomegranate and orange slice salads ready to put on the table.

This salad was served with Italian dressing but you can use what ever salad dressing you like.

This photograph shows the fresh salads on the table along with red wine and ice water.

My main dish was a baked ham which was served with mashed potatoes.

The below photograph is of a Noel gingerbread cake in a clear glass footed cake dome.

No, I did not make this cake.  Sometimes it is just easier to purchase a dessert when you have a big meal to make.

I like the way the cake was decorated with edible green holly leaves, red berries and a happy holidays tag.

The cake was served on heavy white raised leaf imprinted dishes from the Pottery Barn.  These dishes were imported from Portugal.

A sweet ending to a great meal on a special day.
