A Tale of Two White Ceramic Lamps – Twins Reunited
One day while out junk store shopping, I saw two white ceramic lamps decorated with a raised flower pattern. I found the flowers strangely beautiful, however, I was unable to identify the flowers in the pattern. I thought it was perhaps the blossoms of an apple or crab apple tree. At one point the raised pattern almost looked like an apple with a fern growing out the top. The lamp was only $7.50 and the shade was a couple of dollars extra. The harp part of the lamp was missing, so I took it to a repair shop to check it out and to replace the missing parts. I think I paid about $24.00 something total for the lamp with repairs.
I loved this lamp so much, that I went back and got the matching twin. Fortunately, no one bought the other lamp. The matching lamp also needed to be rebuilt and I took it into the same repair shop. Again, it was approximately $20.00 total for the second lamp. One lamp also needed to be rewired.
I have never seen a lamp design like this before and there are no markings on the bottom. I placed the lamps on the side tables in my downstairs living room.
We had an interior designer in to our home and she said the lamps needed a modern shorter lamp shade in a lighter color so it would throw more light into the room. I’m looking for some inexpensive shades but have not found anything I like yet.
And so, goes the tale of two lamps, two shades, and two cords. If any of my blog readers know what the name of the flower on these two lamps, please let me know.
