While driving on old Centreville Road, at the side of road, was a row of many flags. I wasn’t sure about about their significance and wanted to learn more.
To get a closer look at the flags, I went into Open Door Presbyterian Church’s parking lot and found an open spot.
It was an extremely cold day and the winter’s sun was very bright. I was glad I was wearing my warm puffy coat and good walking shoes.
The photograph on the left, shows a close up view of the Korean flag.
The sun’s rays are streaming into the photograph.
Open Door Presbyterian Church
The flags in front of the Open Door Presbyterian Church, (ODPC) represent many nations. I remember visiting this building when it was Computer Sciences Corporation, (CSC). Today this building and surrounding area accommodates the church and its congregational needs.
The flags actually represent the countries where the church is currently involved in missions with. ODPC is, also, approaching their annual “Missions Month”.
In checking out their web site, the history of ODPC, shows it has both an English-speaking congregation and a Korean-speaking congregation united in their beliefs and one vision.
Other Services
The church also offers free COVID vaccines, has a prayer wall, Children’s Ministry, Scripture Reading, Youth Groups – The Grove, and welcomes everyone. See ODPC’s website for more information on these topics.
Ending notes on a Row of Many Flags
I’m glad I stopped to learn more about the curious row of world flags.
It sometimes takes a little bit of effort to find out the facts on a blog story and I’m glad I learned about all the missions this church supports throughout the world.
A strong gust of wind unfurls the USA flag.
A Big Thank You to David Kim, Director of Worship, ODPC, for his nice note and information about the church.
