Today I had a burst of ambition to clean up the front yard and lawn since it was so messy looking after our long winter.
Our new landscaping installed last year looks great–all the new plantings are green and vigorous looking.
Boxwood InsularisThe photograph on the left, shows a row of Boxwood Insularis plants. I love my boxwood plants!
The only issue was that a bunch of rogue tulips and daffodils were growing in and between the boxwoods. It made things look “garden messy”.
I once read that if something grows where you don’t want it, then it is a weed.
I ended up digging up the bulbs for the tulips and daffodils, and placing them in a neat pile.
I also went over the yard looking for weeds and sticks which had fallen from the trees.
One potted mum which had seen better days was tossed in the yard waste pile.
Up Rooted Tulips Placing Yard Waste in PileI used a shovel to dig up some of the tulips bulbs.
If I left any bulbs, they will regrow next year which I don’t want happening.
My landscaper left a large area in front of the Spirea Golden Elf plants so I can add some seasonal bedding plantings.
I’m not sure what color or type of plants I should purchase for this area.
What do my Readers think?
Spirea Golden Elf Plants White DaffodilsI kept about three big bushes of daffodils which look nicely placed.
I’m not going to toss out all the tulip and daffodils bulbs I removed.
Now to find a place in the back yard to replant them.
Planting Update
Since I love to share my plants with my neighbors, I placed the tulip and daffodil bulbs in a bag and marked them “Free”.
I placed the bag on my split rail fence, so anyone could take them.
One day later, they were gone and on to a new home.
Happy Planting!
