Hello Spring Bunny

Hello Spring Bunny

Today I got together with my gal pal for a walk in the neighborhood and noted this Hello Spring Bunny lawn decoration.

Boy, it’s super cute and it also looks like someone’s craft project or perhaps a purchase from a craft fair. But what a clever way to announce springtime.

Making a Wooden Hello Spring Bunny

Let’s see, I’m guessing here, but it looks like the Spring Bunny lawn decoration begins with a tracing of the bunny on a piece of board or plywood. Cardboard would never hold up with the rain and other weather conditions around here. The bunny figure is then carefully cut out with a saw.

Then the whole thing is sanded, (if needed), and painted white. The bunny’s face does have some fine details to it. The nose almost looks three dimensional with the shading. Humm . . . The bunny has green eyes. Most of the totally white rabbits I’ve seen have pink or ruby colored eyes but that’s OK with me because this is the springtime bunny. Everyone knows that anything goes with that free spirited bunny.

The bunny also wears a painted-on springtime tie. The tie is yellow and looks like it has flowers on it.

Giant Carrot Tops

Here, I’m not exactly sure but the large carrot tops poking through the soil looks like plastic crocks painted orange to look like carrots. I think the green carrot tops are some type of wooden trim painted green to mimic a growing carrot.

Not shown is another cutout of a large carrot with the lettering “Hello Spring” on the front.

Ending Notes to Hello Spring Bunny Blog

I love it when people get creative and make lawn decorations.

I remember when my friend was little, we actually made large cut-out circus animals to serve as decorations for a fall school program. We had a bear, seal, lion and something else. Of course, our items were made from the carboard of a large refrigerator box and then painted. Boy, those circus animals turned out cute, but it was strictly for indoor use. The below figures for a birthday cake were used as the inspiration. Yes, I still have them but sorry no photographs of our cardboard animals.

But back to the Hello Spring Bunny blog, what nicer way could there be to mark springtime?
