ReStore Everyday and Upscale

Even though I was in a rush to get home, I decided to stop in the ReStore Everyday and Upscale which is definitely what’s in the shop today.

Upscale Schonbek 1870 Vesca Chandelier

I noticed, what looks like, to my eye, like a very high quality chandelier with tear drop shaped crystals. The piece is loaded with elegant details.

There are a couple of these gorgeous chandeliers for sale but they probably will sell quickly. I tried to picture in my mind the kind of impressive house, office or business they were taken out of. But a better question in my mind, is why they were taken out. I would love to have one in my house, however, they are way too fancy for my furnishings.

Apparently they are from the Schonbek Vesca collection. The 28-inch six light chandeliers are in antique silver heritage with crystals. When new they are valued at $2,600 each but the ReStore Price is only $700.

Vintage Cobbler Bench

At one time I remember my home town having at least two cobblers or shoe repair places. This is when shoes were make of quality materials and could be repaired. I always remember getting cleats put on my dress heels so the heels wouldn’t wear down. They could also resole your shoes if they got a hole in the bottom or fix broken straps.

I’m more used to seeing people with shoe shine kits. However, the vintage cobbler bench definitely looks like it is portable and not too heavy to move from place to place.

It has a round padded seat with an area for cleats, tacks, and tools.

Online I see some people are making them into unique coffee tables.

Everyday Tool Box – ReStore

This sturdy tool box is made out of unpainted wood and has a pipe for a handle.

It looks like it would last forever.

It definitely will carry or store a lot of tools or other needed items.

Pie Safe

I haven’t seen a pie safe for sale for a long time but I really like them.

The history of pie safes go back to German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania. They became known as Pennsylvania Dutch. A pie safe is a piece of furniture to store baked goods and other food items. Pie Safes protect the food, keeps insects and mice out, but allows for ventilation. Some pie safes have glass or copper fronts. In some cases, you can find one with a place to store jelly.

Pie safes fell out of favor with the introduction of ice boxes.

This piece looks like it was cleaned up a bit or refinished, repaired, and reconditioned. The tin in the top two doors does not look old to my eye but it does have a very attractive design.

At one time I lived in a very old 1895 home which had closet hardware similar to this pie safe’s locks. One screw has been replaced.

In conclusion, this piece looks unique and could be used for storage of linens, pots or pans, office supplies, etc.

Everyday Roaster

Wow, what perfect timing for this next piece or a blue enameled ware roaster.

With Thanksgiving this month, this blue roaster should be pulled to a lower shelf so someone can buy it to make that delicious turkey dinner.

Ending Notes on ReStore Upscale and Everyday

I didn’t have time to talk with Eric but today, the ReStore shop had lots of good deals. They also have lots of Christmas holiday decorations for sale.
