Xeriscaping Landscaping of Local Office Building

This was the first time I visited this office building but what really caught my attention was the way it was landscaped.

The landscaper planned the landscape with many xeriscape elements to it.

Xeric is a Greek word meaning dry.

Plants in a xeriscape garden would need little or no water, be drought resistant and it often includes gravel, rocks or dirt in the design.

The next two photographs shows rows of bright red Crape Myrtle trees.

Crape Myrtle trees are known as the “lilacs of the South”.

They grow best in full sun in well drained soil.  Crape Myrtle trees do not need supplemental watering.

This is a good choice for an office building that does not want to mow the grass or deal with watering the landscape.

The red Crape Myrtle trees were planted in a bed of river rocks.

This river rockscape is great for low maintenance gardens and it probably prevents a lot of weeds from growning.

The trees are also quite attractive with large clusters of red blooms.

The only concern with crape myrtle trees is that they need to be pruned to keep their shape.  Otherwise, the trees will turn into large bushes.

These tall bushes are planted in a long row, also, among river rocks.

I almost thought these shrubs looked a little like a type of box wood.

This side view of the building show the clean, modern look with minimal plantings and river rocks.

Xeriscape Landscaping is great for the environment because it saves precious water and keeps water bills low.

With a careful selection of plants, you have a very attractive, care free garden for years to come.

A Farmhouse Magic Blog Hello to the Plurinational State of Bolivia.

Did You Know That . . .

The former Republic of Bolivar, in 2009, under the new constitution, changed the official name of the country to the Plurination State of Bolivia.  This was done to recognize the multi-ethic nature of the county and to enhance the position of its indigenous people.
