White Swan Figurine

Today we are blogging about a small white swan figurine found in a second hand store.

The white swan measures approximately 4 1/2 inches long and 2 1/4 inches high so it is not very large and is made out of bone china. The swan’s only coloring are two gold dots for the eyes and there are no detailed feathers or other markings.

The swan’s neck is, also, oddly twisted so that beak is resting on its feathers. There are no markings on the bottom of the figure. This was the only swan I could find online with this unusual pose.

I initially thought this piece would be easy to research due to the gold oval sticker on the back side with the words “Elegant, bone china” in it.

However, after spending time researching this item, I could not find anything about the Elegant company nor any swan figurine which looked similar.

However, some secondhand items are like that and you’ll never find out anything more.

Could this white swan be a cheap import sold in dollar-type store? Not sure on that one either but it looks like it might have been glued on a lid of some type.

Lucky White Swans

Chinese culture online states that birds fly to heaven and communicate our requests to the gods. I’ve read swans are lucky or unlucky depending on the circumstances.

For now, I’ll place this small swan on my kitchen windowsill and hope that it brings me some type of good luck. I’ll also enjoy its quiet beauty while washing the dishes and perhaps one day, I’ll find out a little more information on it.
