In my walk in closet I found a couple of boxes that I haven’t looked in for a while.
In one box, I found a vintage Jeannette Glass Company, Pilgrim pattern (Thumbprint), gold-trim juice set from the late 1930’s to the 1950’s. I don’t even remember buying it or perhaps it was a gift?
The set is heavy clear pressed-glass in which looks like a thumbprint design, thus, the nickname.

I see on line that this tray is sometimes called a Christmas tray.
All items are rimmed in gold. I don’t think the glass drink stirrer came with the set, but someone added it at some point.
It makes perfect sense that the pitcher and glasses are smaller for juice.
The current price for this set is probably set under $50 although I saw one priced at $99. Some sets did not have the oval tray.
Vintage Jeannette Thumbprint Gold Trim Juice SetI reviewed an old advertisement for this juice set on the company’s history website. They called the pitcher a “jug”. The old price for entire juice set was listed as $1.35 per set.
I, also, noticed a lot of people on the internet spelled Jeannette incorrectly, leaving out the second “n”.
Brief History of the Jeannette Glass Company in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, 1887-1983
I love reading the histories of old companies.
The Jeannette Glass Company started out making handmade bottles. This quickly changed with the introduction of the O’Neill semi-automatic bottle blowing machine back in 1899.
Soon the company was producing auto headlamp lenses, wide mouth jars, etc.
In 1924, the Jeannette Glass Company produced a wide variety of table and kitchen glassware. They were using glass presses at this time.
During the Depression of the 1930’s, the company produced glassware in pink, green, crystal, delphite (light blue, non clear), light and dark jadite, and ultramarine, (clear blue). Two shades of Jadite light and dark were produced in the 1930’s.
In 1961, the Jeannette Glass Company bought the McKee Glass Division of the Thatcher Glass Manufacturing in Jeannette and continued to produced glass.
Then in 1970, the company name changed to the Jeannette Corporation.
The Jeannette Corporation totally closed down in 1983.
