Untraditional Fall Decorating

Farmhouse Magic Blog is doing a little untraditional fall decorating for my fall table centerpiece. So there is a little mix and matching going on.

Table Runner, Tucans, & Green Eggs

My seven-dollar secondhand table runner is the base for my decorating since it has all fall colors in it. A green table napkin defines the area I wanted to fall decorate.

A junk store ruby red vase and dish sits nearby.

This is a close of up the two toucans figurines.

The toucans are cute and I love to see them on my dinning room table.

The hand painted toucans are multi-colored with long black beaks. I added some glass fillers to the red vase to keep it centered on the table and to make it harder to knock over. Around the base of the red vase is a deep green leaf and berry candle ring.

My last step was to add some Styrofoam green eggs I recently ordered from Pottery Barn. The eggs are not toucan-sized but I love this pastel shade of lime green.

Mix and Match Fall Table Setting

At some point I’ll get some flowers to place in the red vase to finish the fall look.

It’s not a traditional table centerpiece but it all seems to work since I kept within the same color tones. The faux silk leaves pulls the whole fall look together.

It’s nice to experiment with things you own. Don’t be afraid to mix and match things from other seasons together for a new look.

Silk Wreath on Front Door

On my front door, I have a traditional fall wreath decorated with silk leaves, pinecones, green ivy, and acorns. It has a a wire edged fall ribbon in the center.

Every year, I try to add a thing or two to make it look fresh and different. Perhaps this year I’ll add a faux pumpkin or two?

New Fall Decorating Themes

So what fall themes do I see happening this year?

Farmhouse Magic Blog predicts a lot of accent pillows, table napkins and stuffed pumpkins. Also, pillows, napkins, and placements with bold black and white buffalo checked material. Very fresh, new and cozy looking.

Decorating your home in a nontraditional way for fall allows for new looks on old items.
