As long as I was at the garden center for their free seminar, of course, I dropped in to check out their fall and Halloween Trick or Treat merchandise.
Trick or Treat Merchandise
The first item that caught my attention, is the fancy witches’ hat. It is complete with brownish gold flowers and a bright orange and black ribbon. The black “weeping willow” tree in the background actually flashes both purple and orange lights.
Witches Hat – Trick or Treat
At my home, I sometimes, wear a witches’ hat when I give out trick or treat candy.
However, I learned an important lesson about wearing my witches’ hat for volunteering at the historic farmhouse. One year when I opened the farmhouse door, those young kiddos found me “too scary” and did not want to visit the farmhouse. Now, I leave my black hat at home during the Halloween seasonal tours.
But, not to worry, I still wear my artistic UFO pin which features an alien face. Of course, we also talk abut “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast which aired on Oct. 30, 1938. It is about a pretend UFO invasion which listeners thought was real. It’s perfect for a historic Halloween seasonal tour.
Interestingly, in the background of the above photograph, they are also selling regular sun and gardening hats. I’m a real hat lover, so yea to that one.
Halloween Puzzles
I liked this garden store’s Halloween puzzles. One was shaped like an actual raptor, (not a square or a rectangle), and another one you could put together and use as a poster.
There is, also, a variety of Halloween merchandise on this four-tiered table including puzzles, ghost figures, pumpkin carving sets, candy corn bristle trees, etc.
Felt Fall and Halloween Pins
This boxful of fall and Halloween felt pins looked so very cute. They are display in a wooden box with a natural-color raffia underneath them. I see pins shaped like owls, candy corn, jack o-lanterns, BOO bones, acorns, crows, etc.
These adorable pins were just being put out for display, so I’m not sure what they were priced it. The rounded pumpkins had sequined eyes.
Good Lucky Eye Symbol
According to my online research, the eye symbol possibly means Eye of Providence, The Seeing Eye or the Eye of Horus. It has many meanings of both religious and medical. It can also mean to watch over us or to keep evil away. I find these pumpkins with eyes on them to be very interesting and not something we usually see on black pumpkins.
The store offers both one large eye and smaller grouping of eyes on the grayish/black pumpkins. Beneath it all, is a black loosely woven spider web tablecloth.
Ending Notes on Trick or Treat Blog
Last photo, this large black bear is ready for trick or treating wearing his pink tutu and carrying an orange trick of treat bag. On his back are two delicate pinkish wings. So I think the look he is trying to pull off is either a Bear Fairy or a not Scary Bearie.
I know it’s a little early for this blog on Trick or Treating, but here at Farmhouse Magic Blog we love the cooler days, fall leaves, apple cider and Halloween decorating.
A Huge Thank You to the Merrifield Garden Center for allowing me to blog and to take photographs in their garden store.
