Topsy Turvy

Topsy Turvy

I wasn’t sure how to spell topsy turvy, so I looked it up today. I think it applies to today’s blog and my recent shopping trip.

Actually, I started off at the downtown library to use their printer because copies are only 15 cents each. However, to use the copier you need to have your credit card and library card handy. I checked some other printing places, and they want a dollar a copy. Of course, it also depends on how many copies you need. But, of course, I went with the cheaper option.

Secondhand Clothing Store

My better half had cleaned out some of the items in his closet, so I decided to drop them off at the local secondhand clothing store. I don’t like to throw out things people can still use.

Anyway, I can hardly drop off a donation without going in, right? Oddly, the shelves of household goods seemed pretty picked over. However, there wasn’t anything I needed or wanted.

When I got closer to the front of the store, I noted a long, long, long line of customers waiting to check out. I was a little shocked since I never saw a line this long in this particular store. The line went all the way to the back room to the children’s toys so probably estimate over 30 people.

It was also a Friday morning, so not sure how all these people were off work. But obviously they all needed a bargain price on household items and clothing. This, of course, is the place to get that cheaper price.

Price of Bread

After leaving the secondhand store, I stopped in the bakery that makes fresh loaves of bread, fresh coffee, pastries, rolls, etc. Nothing smells better than bread baking in a bakery. You know things are fresh.

It was there I got a little of a sticker shock for a loaf of bread costing almost $12 with tax.

There were only two customers in the store while I was there.

For lunch that day, I had a couple of bread slices slathered in peanut butter and jelly. I needed an old favorite comfort lunch sandwich.

Ending Notes of Topsy Turvy Blog

What is going on in our economy now? Before there were a few people in the secondhand clothing store and a long line of people in the bakery getting a treat to take home.

I guess things are a bit Topsy Turvy around here. Until the economy works itself out, I guess we will be seeing more of this.

Enjoy your Saturday?
