Garden Store Visit

I recently contacted a local building supply company about replacing several front windows in my home.

My old wooden windows are original to the house and are now over 40 years old. They lasted a long time but a few of them were left open in the rain and have begun to warp. Plus they need painting every now and then which I don’t like doing. The windows on the front of my house are also very drafty.

I decided to replace the old windows with new windows made of a certain mixture of reclaimed wood fibers or sawdust and thermoplastic polymer. Apparently the windows are light weight and stronger than vinyl. They also never need painting.

I was reading online about various window materials such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC) which is a cheap and durable polymer used in making replacement windows and construction projects.

Replacement windows can also be made out of high density polyethylene (HDPE) which is a polyethylene thermoplastic that is made from petroleum.

Interestingly, while browsing around the garden center, I noticed these colorful garden chairs and matching side tables, also, made of high density polyethylene. Each generously-sized chair is priced at $449.99. The chairs apparently will fold down for easy storage and have a fan back. See the below three photographs.

I liked the bright red and blue but the gray color chair would probably match my other garden furniture.

Presently, I’m getting tired of scraping and repainting my rusty cast iron table and chairs in flat black metal spray paint.

These garden tables and chairs look like they require little or no maintenance and you never have to paint them.

I’m amazed with the many things that are made of high density polyethylene on the market today. Not having to scrape/paint windows and patio chairs makes summertime life a little easier.

  1. A.,
Thank you for your comment. At this time, I am not recruiting any writers for my blog but thanks for asking. I like going out and being the roving reporter for my blog. I’ve also learned about a lot of different topics. Have a wonderful day.
