The Gun Show

Yesterday, we received two free tickets to the gun show. Naturally, we took advantage of those free tickets. Normally, they are priced at $20 a person. The tickets were for a three day pass to the show but Sunday was the last day to use them. The person who gave us the tickets explained, unfortunately, something came up, and he couldn’t use them.

Impressions of the Gun Show

As we pulled into the parking lot, it was full of cars. So, I know there is a great deal of interest in this particular show. As we walked in, we gave the ticket taker our tickets. She said she could stamp our hands if we were coming back. No, we didn’t need hand stamps.

In viewing the area, the entire expo floor is filled with a variety of both big and small booths. The booths offered an abundance of rifles, hand guns, knives, ammunitions, and all things related to guns. Interestingly, we noted that a few sellers displaying goods in old drab olive colored military ammunition cases. Yes, I remember the olive drab color well.

A Wide Variety

On today’s visit, I saw everything from dealers selling WWII postage stamps to survival food.

We stopped at one booth selling what was a commercial “upgraded” flak vest. A flak vest is a form of body armor designed to protect a person from case fragments, (“frag”), from high explosive weaponry. Years ago, this included hand grenade fragments but not sure what it all includes now. These new light weight vests apparently provides protection from small arm projectiles. The booth displayed a sample chart of spent bullets fired at their flak vest. Apparently, I guess, their vest stopped the projectiles.

In addition, at another booth a young gal asked me if I wanted to buy a stuffed animal No, sorry don’t need that either but thanks for asking.

Ending Notes on the Gun Show

Really, a big thank you to that person who gave us the free gun show tickets. In addition, we enjoyed the show, had a good time and probably learned a few new things.

For a short time, I stopped for at a booth showing military battle videos. Apparently, one can buy these realistic battle videos showing “live” action battles.

However, after viewing those videos, I want to say thank you to everyone who ever protected our country. And, with Veteran’s Day, soon approaching, this is good thing to remember and take away from the gun show.
