The other day, I got out all four boxes of fall decorations and decided to set my dining room table for the cooler days with an Autumn Centerpiece.
I know I’ve used my glass pumpkins before, but this time the look i want is more out in the pumpkin-patch. By using both old favorite elements and new finds, I was able to pull a new look together.
How It’s Done – The Autumn Centerpiece
The first thing I had to do was to clear off all the papers on the dining room table. Yes, this is quite a chore because there is an assortment of bills, flyers, and junk mail all about.
The second step, is to place a blue and white stripped table runner lengthwise down the table.
Although it is not apparent, a rattan cake stand is placed under the smaller glass pumpkin and holds it up. Different levels always make for a more interesting table setting.
Because I don’t have a lot of artificial leaves in my decoration boxes, I used fall toned faux dried flowers and leaves in keeping with the fall theme.
Fairy Lights in the Autumn Centerpiece
As far as the mini fairy lights goes, I wasn’t sure what look I wanted.
Initially, I started out with the fairy lights wrapped around the large off-white candle. But, upon thinking it over, I really didn’t like that look. It was too controlled and precise, I wanted nature to come through.
I then added the faux dried flowers. Some of these came from a garden store sale and the the other group from the local craft store.
Carefully, I unwrapped the fairy lights from the candle. I ran the thin wire through the faux flowers and glass pumpkins. Wow, I like this new look much better!
To me, this appears more natural and pumpkin-patch like.
Ending Notes
As good things go, I think I finally got the look I wanted.
I used both old favorites glass pumpkins and new finds like the faux flower arrangement and fairy lights to pull things together.
While dining, it really looks quite special when I turn on the battery powered fairy lights and candles, and then turn the overhead lights down low.
