Sunday Grocery Shopping

Sunday Grocery Shopping

Ok, I don’t usually make a Sunday Grocery Shopping trip but this time I was out of milk, laundry detergent, eggs, and other essentials. I, also, needed fruits and vegetables for lunches and dinner. So, bravely we took a trip to one of the local grocery stores.

As we neared the store and pulled in the underground parking lot, we immediately knew it was going to be “one of the shopping days”.

When you live in a busy urban area, you know what times to avoid the crowds. This should have been an off time, but it was busy.

Coffee, yes, please.

Initially, we wanted to enjoy a cup of java at a slow Sunday pace, but that’s not what happened.

First of all, the underground parking lot was a complete mess. We had to wait for cars to back up and exit. It seemed everyone was in a super Sunday rush. A big white truck zoomed in front of us to secure a spot close to the store. Luckly, we were fully stopped so it could get by. We parked near the back of the parking lot.

In Store Shopping

We decided it was way too busy to have coffee first and decided to shop for groceries. We grabbed a large shopping cart and started out in the fruits and vegetables section. My companion went ahead in the store and picked up various things we needed.

It takes me a long time to shop because I like to weigh the items in the store and then it gives you a price tag for the items. You stick this price on your purchase. That way, when you get to the checkout line, the items have already been priced. It makes things much quicker and, of course, easier for the cashier.

Let’s see I purchased bananas, golden apples, grapefruits, fresh flowers and more.

We spent a good bit of time trying to get around other shoppers also on quest for a quick shopping trip.

OK, at some point we were finished and checked out a shopping cart of over $170 worth of groceries, household cleaners, detergent, and on and on.

Instead of sitting in the cafe, we got coffee to go and headed to the elevator and to our car.

Underground Parking Lot – Sunday Grocery Shopping

My companion placed his coffee cup in trunk area and began loading the bags into the vehicle. When suddenly, his full coffee cup fell to the garage floor. When that happened, one of my expensive grapefruits fell to the floor. The grapefruit rolled all the way across the garage.

Conclusion to Sunday Grocery Shopping

We were both glad to load up the groceries and get out of that garage. I sipped my coffee, but my companion had to do without.

And for the rolling grapefruit, I was able to pick it up before it was a parking lot mishap.

Enjoy the day, your coffee, grapefruit and have fun!
