So, yesterday the Supper Club came together for a special themed Southern Living Dinner. All and all, the menu items were inspired by or related to southern recipes and good old southern cooking.
Pre-Dinner Cocktails
On the day of the party, our hostess dusted and wiped off the outdoor furniture. Really, what a lovely sunny day for outdoor drinks! The patio makes a perfect location for those pre-dinner cocktails while the dinner is served indoors. In keeping with southern drinks, the Bourbon Sidecars contains Kentucky Bourbon.
Wonderful, the outdoor area looks great! At first, I didn’t notice it, but Beau slipped into the photograph on the far-left hand side. Hello, Beau!! Yes, Beau, I see you and I know you also enjoys the supper club experience.

In addition, Bourbon Sidecars contain Kentucky Bourbon, Cointreau, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Lastly, a lemon twist is added to garnish the drink.
Indoor Table Setting – Southern Living Dinner
Now get ready, the photograph below shows the indoor table set for the meal. Each place setting is set with china in a floral pattern, white cloth napkins, and water/wine glasses. In the far-left corner, notice the patriotic red, white and blue holiday tree. Plus, every seat contains a gift in a gift bag for the supper club members.

Southern Themed Meal

After that, the BLT Salad is the second course. The bright salad contains both orange and red tomatoes, croutons and is served with a homemade ranch dressing.

In looking at recipes, southern kitchens serve a lot of casseroles and today’s main dish is no exception.
Chicken and Wild Rice Casserole is made with Gruyere and Cheddar Cheeses then topped with almonds.

Dessert – Hummingbird Cake -Southern Living Dinner
Of course, what could be truer to southern cuisine than having a slice of Hummingbird Cake for dessert.
Traditionally, the homemade three-layer cake is frosted and topped with topped with whole pecans.

Ending Notes of Southern Living Dinner
In conclusion, a delightful evening of good supper club friends, good southern drinks and food, equals a happy time for all.
