Small Savings, Big Results
For the new year, it’s great to start thinking about saving money. It is the little things in life that do you that will save you money in the long run.
I often go out to lunch with another salad eating friend. We are always given two salad dressing packets.
By opening one packet and jointly using the dressing, we actually have one salad dressing package to take home with us.
If you make a home made salad to take to work this is the perfect dressing to include in your lunch bag. Also, you can use it at home on your salads.
Using Ginger Packets from Asian Take Out Pork Loin with Ginger Ready for the OvenIf you don’t use the ginger packets from sushi or Asian take out, be sure to save them. Before baking, I top my pork loin with those ginger packets along with onions, soy sauce, garlic, olive oil, and finely sliced green onions.
The baked pork loin will be nicely flavored.
This way you are using up something that would probably get throw away.
Rinse the Laundry Detergent Container and Get an Extra WashThis is an idea I got from working as a waitress in a private club. The cook would take the almost empty ketchup bottles and rinse them out with water. He would include the “rinsing” in what ever tomato dish he was making for the evening’s special, thus, using up the last drops of ketchup.
I generally turn the detergent container upside down and then pour the last drops of detergent into the wash.
After that, I rinse out my detergent bottle with water to get out the last bit of detergent using the same technique as that cook.
Using Soap SliversHere is another way to save money on soap.
I never toss out the little slivers of soap. Instead I put them in a mesh bag and use it in my shower.
The mesh bag came from a bag of onions but it is about the right size for the soap slivers.
If you don’t want this soap slivers bag in your shower, you can always place it in your laundry room, etc.
