Secondhand Christmas

Secondhand Christmas Holiday

Yesterday, I stopped in a couple of resale shops, so what a perfect time to post a Secondhand Christmas Holiday blog.

I love looking around as the shops are brimming full with artificial trees, jewelry, Santas, angels, snowmen, garlands, wreaths, lights and lots of candles. They also have some collectibles tree ornaments. This is everything one needs to get a head start on the Christmas holiday season even if you don’t have a ton of money to spend.

Vintage Santa Tablecloth

The first item I picked up, is this small vintage Santa tablecloth. The tablecloth is made of either cotton or flax and looks very old and yellowing. I paid only $4 for it.

It is embraided with Santa in a red suit holding a bag of presents including a blue ball, horn, green package and two candy canes. He is also wearing black boots with a black belt. This Santa appears to be walking in the snow with some green pine trees in the background.

In addition, I like the simple stitch in the design–plain but attractive.

Of course, the tablecloth is a little dusty. It needs a good handwashing and air drying before being used.

Vintage Poinsettia Print Napkins in Secondhand Christmas Holiday

The next item is priced at a bargain rate. The vintage paper poinsettia-print napkins are from the 1950’s and are new in the original package. There are 20 napkins in the package and I only paid a dollar for them.

Above all, the bright red poinsettia print napkins are a generous 13.5 x 13.5-inches square size.

Because I plan to use immediately them for a holiday lunch, they will not take up closet space. Looking on the back for an old price, they were originally only .65 cents at the time.

Reindeer Horn Headpieces

These super cute reindeer horn headpieces couldn’t be passed up. I purchased three packages which are new, still in the original bags. I’m not sure how many are in each bag but it looks like about five.

These are to be given out to children, but that’s another blog.

Acrylic Candy Canes

I picked up three green and three red acrylic candy canes for one dollar each.

The candy canes are each 25-inches long. They are great or holiday decorations. Apparently, they can be used inside or outside.

Faux Berry Stems

I picked up a few red faux berry stems for decorating.

It seems I always need a few red berries to add new life to an old wreath, centerpiece or garland.
