This afternoon was our first visit to the Roggenart Cafe in Reston. Actually, after visiting their website, I learned Roggenart means “the art of rye” in German. They apparently use traditional craftmanship to make their offerings and want customers to leave with a “feel-good experience”.
Roggenart European Bakery, Bistro, and Cafe Visit
On this busy afternoon, there really wasn’t many open on-street parking spots. So, we used the parking lot which is available for three hours of free parking. We were only going in for some coffee and a pastry, so that was enough time to check out the cafe.

We ordered our coffee and picked up a container of half-priced pastry which a sign stated, “Oops. . .we baked too much.” This is a great idea since it gave us an opportunity to try a variety of pastries from this cafe at a discount price. We took two of the pastries home with us.
I believe the one pastry we tried was a yummy cheese Danish along with our coffees. The coffee was hot and tasty.
We, also, enjoyed our conversation with a couple on their way to Greenland for their honeymoon. They were sitting at the table next to us.
Best wishes to that newlywed couple from Farmhouse Magic Blog.com!
Ending Notes
We enjoy visiting this cozy cafe and will return again. My companion wants to try some items from Roggenart’s breakfast menu.
