ReStore Snowstorm

ReStore Snowstorm

ReStore Snowstorm is about a quest to find a used shovel. In fact, our icy cold weather and hard to navigate sidewalks are still with us. Until things warm up, people are going to be breaking those shovels as they pick their way out of the packed ice. So, we are looking for that shovel in ReStore but I guess so was everyone else. On a normal day, ReStore usually has lot of good used garden tools but today we couldn’t find a single shovel.

Still, the shop still has lots of other great items to check out. Today I noted a fairly large grouping of holiday decorations. I guess, as people put away their holiday things, they donate what they no longer want.

So, what goods are available in our Chantilly ReStore today? Here’s what I found.

Modern Rust Colored Cabinet

This modern wooden cabinet has a bit of a modern vibe to it. It has unusual hardware but simple pulls and hinges. It is small enough to work in many spaces plus I like to pop of color it brings. In design, I think I would call it modern Asian looking.

Modern Sleek Black Dresser

This sleek black dresser with the silver handles is located at the front of the shop. However, I predict it will be sold quickly. It looks in good shape and is very shiny. I love the modern looking “wave” handles. The price tag on this piece of furniture is a reasonable $100.

Possible Spoon Holders or Mini Ash Trays, etc.?

I found these metal “flower” bowls in the home goods section of the store. Not sure if they are possible spoon holders, used tea bag holders or mini ash trays. However, another use is to burn cones of incense or small tealight candles in them. Sometimes your need creates a use for an item, so feel free to be creative here. I’m not sure how you can tell if the bright paint is food safe or not.

Half Circular Cabinets in ReStore Snowstorm

This next item is a set of half circular or cone shaped cabinets. These were pushed together to make a circle. However, you could also push them against a wall to make two separate semicircular cabinets. The light purple color is a bit rare to see but it certainly adds a bit of zest to a room. The small square handles also look like they are not original to the pieces. The top and bottom have a wooden leaf ring motif around them.

Matching Set of White Bedside Tables

This next item is a matching set of white wooden bedside tables. They are well made. However, I see a few chips in paint. They are stacked on top of each other.

Used Furniture, ReStore

These wooden matching bedside tables each have three drawers for storage.

They also have a useful pull-out wooden tray.

Stone Topped Coffee Table

This stone stopped coffee table is near the front register. It is extremely heavy and looks to be made out of neutral colored stone material. After reviewing a video on the differences between marble and granite, I’m still not sure what it is. It comes with some type of base. The top stone had an ornate carved edge. This is a real statement piece. It could also carry a larger floral arrangement in the center of the table or perhaps a small work of art piece like a sculpture. Take it home for $150.

Ending Notes of ReStore Snowstorm

It was so nice to get out of the house to check out the new donations in one of the local ReStore shops.

As for our recent snowstorm, it is going to warmup next week, so we’ll see if we can dig out. Be careful and don’t slip on that ice.

A Big Thank You to the DC-NOVA Chantilly ReStore Shop for allowing me to photograph items in the shop and to blog online about them.
