I was off shopping again and saw this Restore – Military Trunk Locker.
Military Trunk Locker
This vintage-looking U. S. military trunk locker is in the furniture section. It is made of plywood painted drab olive green with a metal hasp, hinges, and corner guards, (see below photograph). It is missing the inside top shelf but it does have original wood handles. There are some signs of wear on the trunk’s sides and bottom.
I’m doing a little bit of guess work as to the age of the locker, but I would say it was in the 1960’s era.
Below is a photograph of the inside lid stenciled with military specifications.
After the contract USA 100 there is a 67. Could this mean 1967? If so, that would bring it right in the middle of the Vietnam War.
Does this trunk locker have a story to tell?
I bet it does.
This ReStore – military trunk locker would make a nice coffee table or could be used to store a military collection.
Victorian-Style Christmas Tree Holder
The next item I’m blogging about is a heavy cast iron holiday tree holder made in an ornate Victorian-style. A bell and holly design surrounds the base. There are three screws to secure the holiday tree trunk.
This piece is a little rusty but you could probably clean the rust off a bit with a lubricant-rust preventative spray and a little elbow grease.
This tree holder, photograph on the right, would also look nice holding up an artificial tree.
Row Boat Furniture
So we now come to the super-cute row boat shaped cabinet. In the back of the upper boat part is a handy mirror.
The row boat cabinet is made out of wood and is painted white and blue. On the front, there are a couple of waves cresting at the bottom. The handles have blue starfish designs on them.
This boat shaped cabinet would be perfect in a little boy or girl’s room.
Or could it be used for odds & ends by someone with a beach house.
The sides of the cabinet have a finely hand painted rope and anchor design.
This usual piece is sure to sell quickly.
Vintage Chairs with Needlepoint Seats
The photograph below of the two matching chairs were near the back of the store.
The chair frames are made of wood. They each have a round flower needlepoint design on the seat.
I thought the needlepoint seat design was quite lovely. I also like the fact it was done on black material.
This photograph is up close view of the flower needlepoint design.
The flowers are possibly roses done in yellow, pink and red with greenery.
Baby Food Mill
The last item I am blogging about, is a light-green food mill in ReStore’s houseware department.
One use of a food mill is to make baby food. Apple, pear, yam, or bananas baby food is easy enough to make plus most babies loves it.
Puree only soft cooked food in food mills. The seeds and the skin from fruits and vegetables are conveniently removed by the food mill.
Online a plastic food mill is priced anywhere from $8 to $20.
So, this food mill looks in pretty good shape and is still useful.

Unfortunately, I did not find a piece of furniture which would work in my space, so I’m still looking.
