This weeks’ shopping trip to the ReStore Shop provided lots of great items and, so the title, ReStore Holidays came to mind.
So, let’s see, we found both holiday items and plus other interesting things for sale.
White Roll Top Desk
This white roll top desk is very cute and seems to be about child sized. There are lots of nooks and drawers to store things in. The handles are painted a light pink color. There are a couple of white stuffed teddy bears sitting on the unit which are also for sale.
Vintage Red Gas Can
Wow, I like this vintage red gas storage can. It looks like it was used for a long time with some of the red pant flaking off. It has a wooden red handle and a spout. I saw one similar online being marked kerosene gas can for tractor use. Now some fuel cans are color coded. I noticed one company has red cans for gas, yellow cans for diesel fuel, kerosene in blue cans and oil in green cans. There also seems to be collectors out there who love these vintage oil cans.
I did not look for markings on the bottom of this vintage gas can. However, I love the old red wooden handle on this piece.
Vintage Ice Cube Tray
Remember years ago, before they installed water lines into refrigerators/freezers? That’s right, about the 1950’s to 1960’s era, there were no ice makers. You used an ice cube tray, filled it with water and then allowed it to freeze solid. Then you pulled up on the handle to allow the ice cubes to escape. It was always hard to fill the trays with water and then carefully walk over to the freezer without spilling some water on the floor. We always had more than one ice tray in the freezer as one tray was never enough to fill all the glasses with ice.
There are different claims to who invented the ice cube tray. However, there is some information online about Edward H. Roberts, a design engineer at General Electric. He has a patent on an aluminum ice cube tray with a release lever. This way, you didn’t have to hold the tray under water to release the cubes, thus, making things easier.
Eventually, the metal ice cube trays were replaced by cheaper and simpler plastic models. The plastic models you twisted back and forth to release the cubes.
This vintage ice tray was found in the home goods section of the store.
Of course, at some point, refrigerators/freezers began to feature ice cube makers, so all trays were no longer needed.
This is a great piece for those who love to collect retro kitchen tools and very reasonably priced at only $3.
ReStore Holidays
But, of course, we entitled today’s blog ReStore Holidays, so now we are going to talk about items relating to the holidays.
I love this nicely painted salt and pepper shaker set made to look like yellow chicks. They are located in the front part of the store and are priced at $10. Think how cute these would look on a spring themed table.
Collectors will also love the finely painted chicks.
Lastly, with holiday shopping nearing, there are lots of holiday items in the store. Looks like dishes, ornaments, ribbons, candles, etc. ReStore has dedicated an area of the store to all the holiday merchandise.

So, I guess I what to say here is there are lots of holiday items you can purchase at the ReStore Shops at very reasonable prices.
A Big Thank You to the ReStore shop for allowing me to blog and take photographs in their store.
