ReStore Bed Two

ReStore Bed Two

Well, FMB Readers, we are going to have a ReStore Bed Two blog because I checked out a second ReStore shop for bed frames. Unfortunately, the Reston/Herndon Restore Shop does not carry bed frames, but they had a lot of other goodies in the store to blog about.

Let’s see what I found in the shop.

Pie Plate, Spode Christmas Tree Pattern

Really, I’ve always liked the Spode Christmas Tree Pattern on dishware. The pattern goes back to 1938. Interestingly, this Spode pie plate is dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe. It is marked c. 1938 – S3324A12 on the back of the plate. The number S3324A12 dishware dates back to 1959 to 1990’s. The ReStore price is $15.00 and they have only one for sale.

Christmas Tree was one of the most important designs from Spode.

So, Spode wanted a new design for the Christmas season but didn’t want a holly design. They eventually settled on a profusely decorated Christmas Tree. The tree was decorated with ornaments, holiday crackers, and tinsel. However, on the original design, presents were lacking, so the design was modified. This improved the design by giving greater weight and balance to the bottom of the tree.

The top of the tree has a Santa topper on it and not a fairy or star. According to factory legend, the designer placed Santa on top as a placeholder or a way to complete the design. However, everyone liked this whimsical choice, and it became part of the permanent pattern.

Different versions of the Christmas Tree were produced over the years. Confusingly, during the 1990’s, the same pattern number S3324 was used on different versions with different borders and mottoes.

Hammered Copper Pots Set

The next item I’m blogging about, is a hammered 5-piece Copper Pot Set with brass handles. I looked in one pot and there is some pitting and use. This set is located near the front of the store priced at $300 for the set.

Abundant Glassware in ReStore Bed Two

So, these clear glasses are nice if someone wants multiples of this particular glass for drinks or dessert. Therefore, one could pick up practically as many as they wanted.

Multiple glassware priced very reasonably at $1.00 per glass.

White Fine Furniture Dresser

Wow, this next piece really threw me for a loop, since I have never heard of White Fine Furniture. But, of course, I am not a fine furniture expert either. In the ReStore, this piece is a Dresser from Mid-Century in Walnut priced at $800. It is located next the front of the store.

More about White Fine Furniture

(Note – this information needs verification). According to online information, White Fine Furniture was a major American producer of hand-crafted fine furniture, (1881 to 1993). It was started by The White Brothers of Mebane, North Carolina. The company, also, produced furnishing for the US Government.

Initially, the company was founded to pay off the debts of their father. At the start, the company lacking tools only made oak tables and wagon wheels. Later, their solid oak bedroom set sold for nine dollars and included a bed, dresser, and washstand.

In 1906, the White Fine Furniture Company had a contract to sell furniture to furnish the new buildings built to house the Panama Canal army engineers and canal workers.

Note, in checking what White Fine Furniture currently sells online for it is generally expensive but I’ll let my Readers be the judge of that.

Indiana Glass Company, Glass Set

Next, this Indiana pressed glass set, Colony Park Lane, Ruby Red Flash comes as a set of stemware. A few of the glasses have a little bit of the red worn off and the set is priced at $70.

The Indiana Glass Company goes back to 1907 and was known for its pressed, blown, and hand-molded products and operated for about a century. Throughout its history, the Indiana Glass Company sold a wide range of glassware, tumblers, and novelty items.

ReStore Bed Two Blog – Ending Notes

In conclusion, I didn’t find that bed frame in the twin size, however, there are always wonderful finds in this Reston/Herndon ReStore Shop.

Please note that items are donated and are quickly sold, so shop early and often.

A Big Thank you to the Northern Virginia ReStore shop in the Reston/Herndon area for allowing me to take photographs and to blog about their bargain-packed store.
