Ok, I’m looking for a used single bed frame or a ReStore Bed Frame. I don’t want to spend a lot of money on this item but, of course, I want something of good quality and that will last. Please note, the ReStore shops sell only bed frames and not mattresses.
Actually, the Chantilly ReStore had two possible single bed frames available. One was a white iron bed frame, and the other one was a wood and metal combination. I looked at both bed frames but really didn’t think either would fit with what I had in mind.
However, there were lots of other great bargains in the Chantilly Habitat for Humanity ReStore shop. Below are few items which caught my eye.
Rolling Round Ottoman
OK, I really liked this first item but, alas, there is no room in my home for this one. This ottoman is round, nice and clean and is on wheels. Think how nice it would look to place a large tray with tea or coffee cups on this one. It is also trimmed in a gold braiding and trim. So, it’s large enough for a couple to sit on or use as a foot stool. It is priced at a reasonable $75.
Vintage General Electric Radio
Next, I had a little difficulty finding information on this vintage radio. It’s unusual in that it doesn’t have a small dial but a long horizonal turner. I found a photograph of it online in the Radio Museum site.
This radio was made in the United States of America. It is A-64 General Electric Co. (GE), Bridgeport CT, Syracuse NY, Year 1935/1936, Broadcast Receiver or past WWII Turner.
Not sure if this GE radio works or not, but it looks cool in its brown wooden case.
Large Metal Bird Cage
This bird cage can hold more than one bird. I remember we always had a mirror in our bird cage so the bird could look at himself. However, he never said “Pretty Boy” or anything else.
It looks like the cage door is large enough for a good-sized bird or parrot to fit through. The metal cage also has lots of perches for the birds to sit on.
SSF Candy or Gum Ball Machines
Up front near the cash register are twin head candy or gum ball machines mounted on a wooden stand. One time, you could find gum ball machines at barbershops and hairdressers since parents would buy a treat for their children to sit still for haircuts. I remember them being placed at front of grocery stores along with a little up and down pony which took a quarter to operate.
I see there is a lone white gumball in the first machine. How old do you think this gumball is? Online, I saw a similar set priced at $120. This set is priced at $30.
White Mannequin Arms in ReStore Bed Frame Blog
Wow, so what’s up with the mannequin arms, are they for sale for that modern art lover?
When I was done looking around in the back of the shop, I noticed the arms were on an upright female mannequin with an outfit that was for sale. This is the first time I saw this ReStore sell any clothing. No, sorry art lovers, the mannequin arms are not for sale.
Ending Notes on ReStore Bed Frame
So, that brings us to the end of another shopping trip. My partner was looking for used exercise equipment and I was shopping for that single bed frame.
