Today my blog is on Pottery Barn Quick Decorating Fixes. I’ve been thinking about the upcoming holiday season and wanted some quick fixes for two of my decorating challenges–a messy looking bed and the need for a couple of soft pillows for the living room.
No better place to shop for housewares than the Pottery Barn, in particular, when they have a sale going on.
Yesterday I got my boxes of new items and, of course, was quite excited to check things out.
Updating the Bed
For the project I first ordered a gray Wheaton Stripe sheet set and two sets of extra matching pillowcases. That might seems like a lot of pillow cases, but in truth, I’ll use them all on one bed. I love way Pottery Barn packages their linens with a nice ribbon tied to the front of the package and percale sheets are organic.
According to Pottery Barn’s tags, organic means that the growing of cotton used in the linens does not use pesticides or synthetic fertilizers and the products are also non-toxic.
Mindfully made is in reference to the well-being state of the workers making Pottery Barn goods and the idea of having a positive impact on the people of our planet.
The below photograph shows the packages of Wheaton Strip sheet set and the two sets of extra pillowcases.
Issue One, Bedroom Sheets Need Updating
My first decorating challenge is he bed always looks messy. I need a lot of pillows for this bed and thought the extra matching pillowcases will look quite nice and crisp.
Even though the quilt is mainly blue, the new gray sheets picks up some of the dark blue coloring and looks matching.
The new linens are well make and large enough to hold my pillows. The new fitted bottom sheet fit easily over the pillow top mattress.
Before making the bed, I always wash new sheets and pillowcases.
The photograph on the left shows the great looking bed with the addition of the new sheets.
Issue #2. Freshen Up the Living Room
Issue Number Two, Freshen Up the Living Room with Pottery Barn Quick Decorating Fixes
My second decorating challenge is to freshen up the living room with cozy pillows so I ordered two fig colored accent pillows with inserts.
The covers and the pillow inserts are sold separately. The fig colored pillow is a generous 20 x 20 inches square and made from 100% cotton velvet. The material is yarn dyed to give it a long lasting color. Best of all, it is machine washable and very soft and comfortable.
The accent pillows are large and made of soft material.
The photograph on the right, shows the fig coloring.
I enjoy soft, comfortable pillows on my couch. One pillow was placed on the couch along with the other pillows. In the below photograph, the new fig-colored accent pillow is in the center of the couch.
I think the new fig color gives the couch and the room some extra infusion of fall color.
In fact, the fig color picks up some of the colors of the vintage paintings I have above the sofa. Sorry the paintings are not in the photograph.
Ending Notes on Pottery Barn Quick Decorating Fixes
In the end, I think my two quick decorating fixes made my rooms look much better so I am very happy with my Pottery Barn purchases.
New sheets and accent pillows help solve decorating challenges.
