Wow, look what came in the mail today a plastic owl. I’m thinking that he or she looks quite realistic. There is also a bottom stopper in that you can fill with sand or even position him on a pole or stick.
Description
I’m finding the plastic owl’s paint job to be quite realistic looking. The front is gray feathers and the back is sort of a brownish color. I guess he is approximately 10-inches tall. His talons are clearly shown.
But what is oddly strange about him is his large yellow eyes with extra large black pupils. The owl looks almost startled and a little bit angry. This owl was purchased online for about ten dollars.
Uses of Fake Owl
So, what exactly does one do with a plastic owl with large eyes? That was my question exactly. Well, the plastic owl does have a use. If you have a garden that is troubled by squirrels or birds, you can place him near or in the garden to scare away the animals. Apparently, birds and squirrels don’t want to be near a owl and become its dinner. I guess he is sort of a scarecrow in bird form.
Ending Notes on the Plastic Owl
The purchase of the plastic owl, is a bit early in the season, as we have absolutely nothing growing in the garden. It is still March and the weather is too cold to plant much of anything. Perhaps in our growing zone seven we could plant some potatoes and they would be OK for now.
For now, we are going to have to wait to see if that owl will scare the birds away from our yummy blueberries and strawberries.
We will keep our Readers posted on this new garden item.
