While planting lettuce seeds, I couldn’t help but make a comparison with my garden and the WWII’s Victory Gardens. Victory Gardens were planted any where there was a little patch of land. They helped the US get through a difficult war era when food was scarce.
Approximately three days ago, we planted lettuce seeds in this area of the garden.
The area has been watered frequently and I expect to see some mini lettuce plants popping soon through the soil.
This area is also in the caged section of the garden.
Once I planted lettuce in the non-fenced section of the yard. When it looked absolutely lovely, I went to harvest it but found it had vanished.
I noticed it was eaten right down to the ground. Absolutely nothing was left. There must have been a colony of very hungry bunnies in my yard that night.
Wild Baby RabbitsThe sprouting of lettuce seeds is yet another hopeful sign that things will go on.
With real can do attitude, the garden will grow, and much like the WWII Victory Gardens and we will make it through.
