Open Road Restaurant and Bar

Open Road Restaurant

Today we really didn’t plan to eat lunch out, but after the holiday parade we decided to dine at the Open Road Restaurant.

Holiday Parade

We haven’t been to the holiday parade in years, so we decided to get into the holiday spirit and attend the parade. The parade was fun to watch, and they had a variety of groups march down the street.

Let’s see, they had some police cars (including a pink police car), fire trucks, dancing groups with music, a commuter bus painted in a holiday scene, large balloons, politicians in open convertibles, bagpipes band, science fiction groups, plus more. All in all, it took about an hour to see the parade. At one point, the whole sidewalk covered with people watching the parade usually with their kids.

After the parade we took our time leaving. We were on the fifth floor of the parking garage. We got in line to leave the garage and waited and waited and waited. After several minutes, not a single car moved up.

Well at that point we decided to get out the queue of cars, park our car, and have lunch.

Right across the street we noted the Open Road Restaurant and Bar and went in to try out their lunch menu. When we entered the restaurant, it was packed. Probably with parade watchers who, also, wanted to avoid the crush to get of the parking garages.

We were told it would be a 20-minute wait for a table but as luck would have it, a table immediately opened up, and we got seated next to the bar.

I like this saying printed on the brick wall near the restrooms. Hum m m . . . Being someone Special to Everyone’s Cup of Tea. I think I’m going to think about this one for a while.

Hello Spencer!

Our server was friendly, knew the menu, the history of the restaurant, and provided great service. In fact, he was so genuinely nice, I’m mentioning Spence in today’s blog posting.

Spencer came in early today since he knew the place would be packed with the parade goers. Yet, Spencer was as nice as can be and we didn’t feel rushed to finish our meal.

Spencer gave us a second basket of free popcorn to munch on while our order was prepared.

So, I had the Open Road Burger and fries. My companion had a blacken chicken salad. I liked that the burger came with one large fried onion ring on top. Everything was hot and tasty.

Ending Notes on Open Road Restaurant Blog

We took our time paying the bill and leaving the restaurant.

Guess what, by the time we got up to the fifth floor of the parking garage, the rush was over. We rode right up the exit gate, no issues.

We really enjoyed the parade and also a nice lunch. We will definitely return to this restaurant.

A Big Thank You to Spencer for allowing us to print this great review of the Open Road Restaurant and Bar.
