Yesterday we attended an Open Mic performance at Fosters Grille in Vienna. It was a quick decision to go out and do something. It’s been a while since we attended an open mic or open microphone show.
We decided to go a little early and have dinner first. We had charburgers, regular burgers, crisp fries and soda. They will take your order, or you can fill out the order slip yourself. Everything was hot and fresh. I noted in the back room, they had a small arcade area with a claw machine. Some children were trying to win the stuffed toys in the machine.
Open Mic Performances
Everyone could sign up to perform no matter what they wanted to do or their talent level. It seemed there were quite a few song writers in the group, who liked to play their own songs. There is a clip board with a sign-up sheet at the front of the restaurant.
There was also a voting section where you could vote for one of two songs. At the end of the evening, everyone would sing the song that received the most votes. Unfortunately, I did not stay the whole time, so I’m not sure what the winning song was.

Each performer was allowed to play three musical selections. So, let’s see, we had three guitarists mostly playing their own music. Then one person got up to read his poem. Next was person with a keyboard. He played a song from camp about sharing one umbrella.
Ending Notes on Open Mic
I love open mic performances. They give everyone an opportunity to sing their own kind of music and to shine.
I would definitely stop by again for another burger and for the open mic show.
Note – Fosters Grille, established in 1999, is a casual family restaurant. They also serve milk shakes, grilled hot dogs, wings, fries, onion rings, etc.
