Non-Melting M&M's Cookies

Non-melting M&M’s

As the holiday season approaches, I’m beginning to think about cookies and, in particular, non-melting M&M’s cookies. Personally, I love to bake and eat holiday cookies. However, I decided to get an early start on the project since I’ll probably provide a few cookies for the Ember Fest. OK, that’s something new on my list and we will talk more about that at another blog.

Non-melting M&M’s Cookies

So, I decided to bake up a small batch of chocolate chip cookies, but I wanted to decorate the tops of the cookies with some peanut butter M&M’s. OK, I wanted to buy regular M&M’s but instead somehow purchased the peanut butter package.

Looking online I found information on how to have non-melting M&M’s on my cookies.

I really think food should taste good and, also, look good. I didn’t want melted M&M’s on my holiday cookies. Melting M&M’s on cookies also slightly changes their vibrant color.

How to have Non-melting M&M’s Cookies

When you add M&M’s to the batter and bake the cookies, the M&M’s can melt in a hot oven. I would generally press a few whole M&M’s on the top of the cookies before baking. But the candy on the cookie’s top came out slightly melted.

But I found out if you take the cookies out of the oven and immediately press the colorful M&M’s into them, the M&M’s will stick to the cookies. I pressed three candies into each cookie, but you can add more if you like. The only thing is you have to work quickly while the cookies are still warm from the oven.

So, this is what I did and then allowed the cookies to cool. Yes, I always try a sample cookie just to make sure things taste good.

Ending Notes

After the cookies cooled, I packed them into plastic containers between small pieces of wax paper and put them into the freezer.

That’s all there is to it.

Now, I’m about halfway to the holidays as I also made a batch of peanut butter cookies. Next, I’m thinking about making some sugar cookies. I’ll have to see what recipe Trail Diva uses.

And Happy Holiday Baking!
