New Year's Party

New Year’s Party

Wow, with our New Year’s Party we enjoyed good friends, good food, while ushering in the New Year. It took a while to get the food on the table, light the candles, and greet the guests.

Here is our menu for our New Year’s Party. The Cheesecake and Orange Cranberry Bread were made the day before for the party. On the day of the party, I sliced the cranberry orange bread and plated it on a two-tier footed serving plate.

New Year’s Eve Party Menu

  • Fresh baby carrots, broccoli, and cherry tomatoes with homemade onion dip
  • Homemade Cheesecake
  • Deviled Eggs, Note – I might have added too much paprika to the dish
  • Colorful Red and Green Tortilla Chips, the thin and crispy variety
  • Coconut Rolls, Pumpkin Spice Flavor
  • Organic Smokehouse Creamy Jack Cheese, Havarti Cheese, and Fresh Fruit served with Crackers
  • Pinwheel Appetizer Wraps Tray – 36 pieces
  • Organic Candy and Almond Nuts
  • New Orleans Shrimp Salad
  • King Arthur Orange Cranberry Bread Mix with added Walnuts, sliced

We, also, served drinks on a second table. A cooler near the beverage table kept the other drinks cool.

A good friend brought New Orleans’ Shrimp Salad with Soda Crackers to share with everyone.

New Year’s Party Decorations

We used a snowflake theme on the buffet table. We started with a white tablecloth and a striped, blue table runner.

As mentioned in a previous blog, a large vase was filled with silver, bronze, copper and blue toned Christmas tree bulbs. Then two vintage cocktail glasses were topped with smaller bulbs and placed on both sides of the larger vase. On the overhead light fixture, we added six light-weight silver icicles and a single white snowflake. We hung these items on long wires so they would not be close to a heat source.

Then we randomly tossed some larger plastic snowflake cutouts over the buffet table. We, also, added a few of the large snowflake cutouts to the beverage table.

Our New Year’s Evening

That evening, we chatted with each other catching up with news as we don’t see each other too often. We turned on the TV about a half hour until midnight so everyone could watch the exciting coverage from Times Square.

A gift of chocolates with a large red bow and a wine glass on a cloth cocktail napkin.

Then ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one . . . Happy New Year!!!!

We used the last of the party poppers packaged in plastic wine bottles. We purchased a case of these poppers back in 2000, so our poppers were 25 years old. Fortunately, they all worked even after in being in storage all that time. I popped some and, also, handed some to our guests to enjoy.

The floor is littered with confetti and paper streamers. Most of this came from the party poppers.

New Year’s Resolutions?

I really didn’t hear too many New Year’s resolutions from our party guests. However, we had fun with those party poppers. I guess the party was over by 1 a.m.

The Party is Over and Ending Comments

All good things end and so with the last day of 2025, a new year begins. Happy 2026. Of course, I will be writing 2025 on some of my correspondence until the new year finally sinks in.

Before bed, we swept most of glitter and confetti from the floor, put leftover food in the refrigerator, and sat down for a few minutes.

It’s hard to believe that another year has passed.

Farmhouse Magic Blog Readers – Happy New Year 2026!

Savings Notes from our New Year’s Party – The New Year Eve centerpiece was free since I reused Christmas Tree Bulbs. The large clear glass vase and vintage bar glasses were secondhand finds. The red and green drummer boy cloth cocktail napkins were, also purchased secondhand. I previously found two complete new sets still wrapped with ribbon.

We used up the last of our party poppers. That frees up space in the laundry room. More storage space, always a good thing.

The Tortilla Chips and Coconut Rolls in Pumpkin Spice flavor were each picked up on sale for a $1 a bag in a gourmet natural food store. I have extra tortilla chips so I’m thinking of donating a bag or two. However, be sure to check the expiration dates. You definitely don’t want to donate expired food to charity.

Don’t forget to pick up half priced wrapping paper and holiday cards on the after holidays sales tables. I picked up two boxes of cards which were marked down. I think that’s enough.

Now it is time to think about what 2026 will bring.
