Nepenthes Ventricosa Pitcher Plants

After seeing this rare plant in a Middleburg shop window, I’ve been intrigued.  In thinking back, I wondered how the shop keeper kept this plant alive since it needs special care.  The pitcher plant grows in similar conditions to orchids.  These plants are being grown in a greenhouse.

The Nepenthes Ventricosa Pitcher Plant is sometimes called the monkey cup plant because monkeys have been known to drink the water in the cup.

This plant grows in South East Asia, India, Madagascar and Australia.

Apparently the cups have to filled with water or they dry up.  Probably too much care for Farmhouse Magic Blog but wow it is interesting to look at.
