Last Saturday was our Horse Show 2024. It generated a lot of interest from all groups and was a great success with thousands of people attending. There was free registration and free parking so everyone came out to see the horses, vendors, demonstrations, etc. For our group, it was all-hands-on-deck for this one.
Volunteering at the Horse Show 2024
My volunteer assignment was working the back table where we were holding a free raffle, collecting donations for plants, and other duties as needed. We, also gave out various types of information and signed up new members. We usually put up our tent outdoors, but it was super windy, so we worked in the barn instead which was a good call.
As the morning began, the parking lot was already full. Throughout the day, more and more people came to see our horse show. The aisles in the barn were packed. The crew parking the cars moved out to distant pastures to park all the cars. In the arena, I wanted to take some photos but I was way at the back of things and it was a little difficult to see everything. It looked like all the visitors were enjoying the show.
Highpoints of the Event
I went over to the arena during the equestrian police drills which are always interesting to see. The police horses need to be steady in crowds and not get upset if something unusual happens. The police officers and their horses went by flares, a large, moving, blow up figure and other things they might encounter on the job.
The equestrian warm up ring was set up with fun horse jumps. However, the jumps were placed in very low positions. The kids would then jump over the horse jumps pretending to be horses. It’s so heart warming to see the little children and their parents having a great time climbing over the jumps. It is definitely something they don’t get to do every day.
For a fee, there was also pony rides. There was a large line for that but in the meantime, the children could color on a large coloring sheet, sit on a real saddle, etc.
I, also, got to see a few horses in the parade of breeds as the owners and horses paraded by.
Ending Notes on Horse Show 2024
Fortunately, I took a lot of photographs, however, they belong to the organization I volunteer at, so I am not able to post anything from that on this blog.
The 2024 horse show was both interesting, educational, and a joy to attend. Hope to see everyone there next year.
Please note that the photograph shown on today’s blog was not part of or related in any way to today’s blog horse show.
