On my recent visit to the local ReStore, I noted the green holiday trees flanking the grand piano.
So, today, what great bargains does the ReStore have in place for holiday shoppers?
Nativity Set in Holiday ReStore
I liked the 17-piece Nativity Scene which would look great on a table top or perhaps on the dining room table. Then, add some small artificial springs of greenery or pine cones for a complete holiday look. This detailed set includes a trio of sheep, a cow, a camel, shepherds, wise men, the holy figures, a soaring angel plus more.
I, believe, the price of this set is $50 and it is located near the front of the store.
Vintage Lamp with Shade
This vintage looking lamp, I believe, comes with the attached lamp shade. The body of the lamp is a detailed female figure looking like it mimics an ancient scene. The lady is dressed in robes and carries what looks like a water urn of some type. She is walking barefoot in a desert setting with a prickly pear cactus plant on her right side.
If I’m not mistaken, there is another matching lamp in the store.
To update this set, you could easily buy ivory toned lampshades. Think of how striking this lamp would look in a living room setting.
I believe, these lamps are definitely one of a kind.
However, I would buy a shorter lampshade, so I could see the top of this lady’s head.
Wow, just look at all the details on this lamp.
Modern Black Stool in Holiday Restore
The modern black stool has a foot rest. For a different look, don’t be afraid to mix and match up your stools.
I, presently, have two of one kind of stool and a totally different third stool. Because, I always place the un-matching stool in the middle of the two matching ones, it comes together nicely.
This modern black seat and chrome colored metal would look great at a breakfast nook or bar.
Holiday Trees and Holiday ReStore
I, believe, these artificial holiday trees are for sale. So, they look festive set up near the ReStore’s grand piano near the front of the store.
Not to mention, there are also quite a few accent paintings on the walls to go with any décor.
Ending Notes on Holiday ReStore Blog
The ReStore shop I visited is located in Chantilly, VA. ReStore Shops of Northern Virginia, are associated with the Habitat for Humanity and are nonprofit organizations.
Please note, I always get a great deal on whatever I buy. Thinking back, I’ve purchased anything from home accents, tools, craft supplies, light bulbs and furniture, etc. Prices, in my opinion, are marked accordingly.
If you shop in this store, please do not try to bargain down or argue about the prices. The ReStore shops are run for charity and are not flea market venues. The prices are as marked or quoted.
Holiday Treats for Farmhouse Magic Blog
So, what did we buy in the ReStore today? First, we purchased a like-new emergency shovel for the back of the car.
Then, I purchase this set of six faux pears. I thought they looked very realistic. The coloring is also very realistic shades of yellows, browns, and greens. I could either keep these or donate them to a historic site. Historic sites or museums usually do not have real food on display and usually enjoy getting a donation of something they can use.
The faux pears will probably be donated to a historic site for recreating a kitchen or dining room scene. I already have a bowl of faux pears on my table.
Vintage German Springerle/Butter Molds
The last thing I purchased, is a vintage-looking wooden Springerie mold for the making of cookies/as a butter mold,. The single mold has six shapes on it–two flower shapes, two cherries, a crow looking bird, a beehive and the top of a church. Unfortunately, at one point, the mold was varnished and a hook was added to hang it probably on a kitchen wall. With the varnish, I don’t believe you would get a crisp outline in the cookie dough. But, of course, I’ll either hang it on my wall or donate it to a German Irish historic home since the wood looks old. Unfortunately, I was not able to find anything online in relation to its age. Online you can also find Springerle rolling pins for making these type cookies.
To use the mold, lightly flour the front designs and cookie dough with a pastry brush. Then, gingerbread, Springerle or sugar cookie dough is firmly pressed into the mold. Remove the mold and cut around the shapes of the cookie dough with a sharp knife or a pastry wheel. The Springerle molds can, also, be used to decorate fondant.
Right now, I really don’t see this mold being used to make decorative butter pats. I think the butter pats would be too large. But, that is only my opinion.
On ending today’s blog, all items featured are available for sale at the ReStore Shop in Chantilly, VA. (Except for the items I previously purchased).
So, a Big Holiday Thank You to James for allowing me to blog and take photographs of the items in the ReStore shop.
Happy Early Holiday Shopping!
