The second part of our visit to our local garden center is called Holiday Green. Boy, how nice and fresh those green pine trees smell when brought into a house. Today, we are going to talk about a few more holiday plants and merchandise.
Real Plants
Almost every holiday season, I grown a pot of paperwhites. These are the tallest and straightest paperwhite I have ever seen.
I like to grow my paperwhite from bulbs so you can watch them grow. Planting and growing a pot of paperwhite is a great easy project for children to do on their holiday breaks.
Some of these Paperwhites are in full bloom and others are just starting to grow. The warmer the room they are placed in, the quicker they will bloom.
At the garden center, generally, this time of year there are a couple of people working on making the fresh holiday wreaths. You can watch them if you like. This green wreath is displayed on a green metal stand.
There are pinecones and small green berries noted on this holiday wreath.
These fresh holiday trees are for sale in the front of the store. Prices are clearly marked so guessing the prices/sizes.
Plant on Trellis
Then, I saw this plant growing on a trellis and became intrigued. And, although it is not part of the holiday blog, I think I might try to grow something like this. Actually, it could be a spring garden project for me. Because, I am trying to think of a way to shield my trash cans from sight from the sidewalk this could be a good option.
Truth be told, I really want to find a natural way to block that view with shrubbery or other plantings.
I like the green and yellow leaves on this plant. Some of the leaves are tied up with green wires to the trellis. It’s probably to train or hold the leaves in a certain way.
Holiday Green & Decorated Tree
Wow, I love this below photographed artificial golden tree. Notice that the tree topper is white and green holly leaves and red poinsettias. The tree sits in front of a striking green background. Notice, there are a variety of artificial wreaths on the walls.
This artificial tree has a variety of holiday ornaments on it from Santa, snowmen and candy. Red and green ribbons are artfully tied into large bows. There is also a large bucket of silver bulbs near the chair.
Ending Notes on Holiday Green
I wanted to give a shout out to the Merrifield Garden employee who I briefly chatted with about my Farmhouse Magic Blog. As always, the employees are friendly, helpful, and a joy to talk with during this busy holiday season.
I enjoy the Holiday Green plants right now, but I, also, like the artificial greenery and holiday trees. Today it is such a tough decision on fresh verses an artificial tree.
Look for a third part of this series tomorrow entitled Holiday Gold.
