Singles Awareness Day

Happy Singles Awareness Day!

Happy Singles Awareness Day, (SAD), to all the singles out there! To be honest, I wasn’t sure what the holiday was about so I did some research.

What is Singles Awareness Day?

Singles Awareness Day is an unofficial holiday on February 15th which is celebrated by single people.

The day is a take off on Valentine’s Day but states that singles can be happy individuals. You don’t need to be in a couple relationship to love yourself, your family, and also your friends. Life is a celebration for all and Singles Awareness Day gives things a positive tone.

There is also the notion that Valentine’s Day has become too expensive with hearts of candy, dinners out, presents, jewelry and floral arrangements.

How Singles Awareness Day Began

It is a little hard to research how Happy Singles Awareness Day began.

One online site states it began with college students around 1999 to 2005 who, to mark the day, gave parties and gifts, and had friend dates.

Best Way to Celebrate the Day

The best part about celebrating Happy Singles Awareness Day is that you can celebrate it any way you want.

Go out with friends, enjoy a dinner out, buy yourself a present or pamper yourself. You could even take a short day trip to celebrate the day.

Lastly, there is no need to consult a second party or loved one to see if the activity is agreeable with them, just go and have a great time!
