Well, yesterday we went out to lunch with our good neighbors, and they wished me a Happy Moms Day 2025. I had other things on my mind and almost forgot about it. The first year I became of mom, I got tons of Mother’s Day cards. At first, I wondered who all these cards were for. Oh, that’s right, I’m a mom now.
Being a Mother
So, what’s it like being a mom? Of course, it means different things to different people. But you can be sure that no one will ever love you as much as your child does. Initially, it means getting up every night at 3 a.m. to change diapers and to check on them. And for years, you will do that every night.
Being a mother teaches one to be patient because that little one will have no concept of your time. If there is a play date going on, there is, no way you going to get to the grocery store afterwards. One mother told me she told me she would get her child a donut while out shopping so she could get things done. I tried it once and it does work for a while. But, as things go, that little one will want out of the shopping cart to “help you shop”. OK, for sure you will not get any shopping done. There were times, I abandoned my shopping cart with items in it, because shopping was too much of an ordeal.
Being a mom means you go out for smiley face pancakes. When the dish arrives, the smiley face looks more monster like than a smile. Of course, your little one will not eat the pancakes, and you spend a bunch of money on your one cup of coffee. But not to worry, you get a takeout container and take those “monster” pancakes with you. Let’s face it, your significant other doesn’t really care it is a smiley face or not.
The world stops when your little one is ill. Nothing else matters but to get them to feeling better. I remember one Christmas eve going out to look for Gatorade. Of course, the stores were closed, and I couldn’t find it anywhere. The best thing about my pharmacy is the drive through window. That way, you could zoom from the pediatrician’s office to the pharmacy and not leave the car. I also remember the kindly pediatrician who gave me a free sample of liquid Tylenol, so I wouldn’t have to take my shivering child to the store to get more. You’ll never know how important that free sample was to me.
The joys of motherhood are many. You’ll never forget that first Christmas and bringing the child out to the many presents from Santa. Motherhood, all in all, makes life more fun. For years, you’ll keep those Moms Day cards on the fridge along with old photos from whatever sports your child played. Precious memories because they grow up fast. Before you know it, you’ll be passing down your car keys from your old car. Yes, it is mechanically sound and also a little on the slow side. Those are the things you want with that first driver’s license.
You’ll also remember the vacations you took. One memory stands out is when my little one put on grandmom’s sun hat and looked adorable. Or when grandmom wanted to dye eggs with my little one.

Ending Notes on Happy Moms Day 2025
Yes, the years roll on and on and things do change but once a mom always a mom. Plus, sometimes moms become grandmoms.
At this time, I want to wish all mothers out there a Happy Moms Day 2025. I still have one of my favorite Mother’s Day gifts, a tiger keychain on a lanyard.
Moms, enjoy your day!
