What exactly does Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup taste like? This weekend I purchased a couple of cans of this tomato-based condensed soup. It is sold in an unusual yellow and bright orange red can. Before this time, I’ve never heard of grilled cheese and tomato soup.
Really, I love tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich to dip into the soup. So, this soup sounded quite tasty to me.
In checking the can’s label, it does contain cream and cheese paste. The cheese paste is made from Monterey Jack, Cheddar, and surface ripened semisoft cheese.

I made the soup with a can of skim milk with a dash of half and half in it. It warmed in my microwave oven to hot, not boiling. Then the soup was served with soda crackers.
The heated soup was tasty, and the texture was very smooth. I totally enjoyed this comforting meal. Since it is a cold day, I’m thinking what a perfect lunch treat.

Tasting this soup brought back memories of having tomato soup with gooey cheese sandwiches. An edge of the sandwich was dipped in the hot soup before eating it. It’s a great classic meal on a cold day or after playing in the snow.
All in all, I enjoyed my soup so much I dropped the manufacturer a line asking them to put it on the shelves for repeat purchases.
Because even on a hot day, I love to eat soup no matter what type. It takes the fast meal up one notch to smooth perfection. It is not only a great lunch, but a can of this soup was inexpensive as I paid $3 for two cans. it is also a nice lunch for someone who doesn’t eat meat. When I added skim milk instead of water, it also increased my calcium intake.
