As I was coming back from coffee this afternoon, I noticed some green sprouts beginning to grow right outside my front door. Actually, I think the sprouts are from daffodil bulbs.
It is a nice day and the temperature is about 61 degrees outside, so I’m only wearing only a light weight hoodie. We, also, had that coffee on an outdoor patio enjoying the fresh air and muted sunshine.
However, it seems early for green sprouts to be poking their tops out yet. It is only December, and I’m looking forward to the gardening break. I, also, want to reflect on my year since it is over soon.
One of the main things I think about over the winter months, is what direction to take the garden/landscaping in? What new things do I want to plant?
Also, I have a better idea on how to win the local neighborhood gardening contest. I, always, enter it but never, ever win.
Garden Chores
Oh boy, I have a ton of garden chores I need to do before appreciating any new growth coming up. I still need to:
- Weed the flower garden beds.
- Pick up all the leaves around the plants, in the roadway, and near the boxwood shrubs out back.
- Think about what plants I can safely divide and donate to plant sales in the spring.
Ending Notes on Green Sprouts
I guess it is never too early to think about the garden, plan you want to plant, or grow in the summer vegetable garden.
Half the fun of gardening is thinking about what you want to grow and then implementing the gardening plan during warmer days. Or perhaps starting seedlings indoors and watching them grow.
Happy Green Sprouts Gardening Everyone!
