Today I decided to do a little shopping at my favorite organic grocery store and came across some of bumpy-looking fruit or Golden Nugget Mandarins
The name on the bin stated that the fruit was Golden Nugget Mandarins, a product of the U.S.A. I’ve eaten lots of mandarins but never a Golden Nugget Mandarin and never one with bumpy skin.
What is a Golden Nugget Mandarin?
Apparently, this citrus fruit gets the name Golden Nugget from its bumpy outer rind. It is slightly bigger than a regular mandarin and contains Vitamin C and A.
The easy to peel fruit is seedless and can be made into mandarin jams and jellies.
Lately, I have been a big fan of tangerine juice which I find to be tastier than orange juice.
Tangerine is about double the cost of orange juice but I enjoy a glass every now and then.
I’m wondering if they have mandarin juice for sale. I might have to check that out in the store the next time I am there.
Taste Test
Since I’ve never had one of these before, I decided to give it a taste test.
Golden Nugget Mandarins have a lot of flavor which blends together and at the end I noted the sweet mandarin taste.
The fruit is, also, very sweet and juicy.
Golden Nugget Mandarin, Easy to Peel?
Next time I buy a Golden Nugget Mandarin, I’ll try out its easy peel rind.
I love to eat citrus fruit so I would definitely buy another Golden Nugget Mandarin.
