Garden Toad
I was doing some gardening near the patio, when I noticed a large garden toad. I was glad I didn’t impale him with my garden cultivator as I was digging around the plants.
He allowed me to take a picture of him for my blog. He has pretty good camouflage coloring to help him hide from predators.
I was a little curious about toads and went on line and checked out the North American Amphibian Monitoring Program. Apparently, frogs and toads are on the decline due to pollution and loss of habitat. Frogs and toads, also, have skin that is sensitive to all the many chemicals people use on their lawns.
Certain states also are involved in a Frog and Toad Calling Survey where for three times a year you can volunteer to go out and recording the number of frog and toad calls you hear.
For now, I’ll just enjoy my toad and all the mosquitoes he consumes. Thank you, Mr. Toad.
