Yesterday we drove out to Front Royal and went to see Skyline Drive. Skyline Drive is a 105-mile road running through the Shenandoah National Park. The fee to enter the park was $30 per car plus they, also, offer season or lifetime senior passes.
I’ve heard so much about the views and was curious about the scenery.
To get to Skyline Drive you need to drive through the town of Front Royal. Front Royal is a very nice small town.
Front Royal Business Tree City USAFront Royal has this interesting sign posted stating the town has been in Tree City, USA for 20 years.
To become a member of Tree City, USA your city needs to have:
- A Tree Department
- Tree Care Ordnance
- A Community Forestry Program with an annual budget of $2 per capita
- An Arbor Day Observation or Proclamation
I’ve added an update to this section as I noted a Tree City, USA sign in downtown Herndon. Apparently it has been a Tree City, USA member for 30 years.
Tree City, USA in Herndon Front Royal, View from CarInterestingly enough, I see several cities I’ve blogged about belong to Tree City, USA, including Reston, Falls Church, Herndon and Harpers Ferry.
Some of my photographs were taken from the car.
This photograph shows a vintage post card of “Horse Back Riders near Skyland”.
The towering cliffs on the post card are of the Little Stony Man Mountains.
Vintage Post Card of Horse Back Riders near SkylandWe enjoyed our drive on Skyline Drive.
There are areas located near the road where you can pull off, get out of your vehicle, and enjoy the majestic views.
Skyline Drive had quite a few visitors and was quite busy. There were bike riders, motorcycles, campers, hikers, and hang gliders about.
We also saw a deer and possibly a mother bear with two cubs.
I enjoyed our visit and the many sights. It would really be quite lovely to visit this park again once the leaves begin to change colors.
Elisha,
Thanks for reading our blog. I always get a lot of questions regarding spam and how to get rid of it. That is a great question and I wish I could give you the best answer. I don’t know of any “sure cure” for spam. For my blog, I purchased a firewall and also use the turn comments on and off section of the dashboard. I am also careful about what comments I post. Good luck with the spam and take care.

Zachary,
Thanks for the comments on our blog. I’m glad that it makes you think a little bit. I checked out your web site on pet food, well done. However, your first page has white lettering that was a little difficult to read. Is that first word “Best”? It might be easier to read with black writing. Thanks for your comment and good luck with your sales.

Gallo,
Thanks for the nice comments. You asked about tips for aspiring writers or bloggers. My question to you is what is your passion? Try to blog about what you are passionate about. It takes a lot time and energy to keep your blog up to date. How much money do you want to spend is another consideration. You can spend a little or lot. If you are going to try to make money on your blog, you will also need a product or service to sell. I hope I have given you some information and ideas to think about. Take care and stay healthy.
